A New Year
Welcome to 2026
Every new year gives us a natural pause.
It’s a moment to look back on the year behind us and a moment to think about the year ahead. Some people have already reflected and planned. Others haven’t—and that’s okay. Sometimes the holidays move quickly, schedules get full, and planning just doesn’t happen.
If the last few weeks were spent with family, let me say this clearly: that time mattered. Family is important. Time together is important. You only get one family, and those moments are never wasted. If you haven’t already, take a moment today to let them know you love them.
When it comes to planning for the future, many people start the year with big goals—only to see them fade after a few weeks. That doesn’t mean the goals were bad. Often, they were just too much to carry all at once. A missed day turns into two, then a week, and eventually it feels easier to quit than to restart.
So here’s my encouragement as we step into 2026.
If you haven’t set goals yet, take a few quiet minutes with the Lord. Ask Him what His plans are for you this year. Write down what comes to mind. Then ask Him how He wants you to walk those things out—step by step. And do what He shows you.
If you do well for a while and then miss a day… or two… or even a month—that’s not failure. It’s always okay to go back to the Lord, ask for direction again, and begin anew. Ask what you missed. Ask how to refine the vision. Then take the next step forward.
The Lord is near, not far.
And if you do spend time with Him asking what this year should look like, I’d truly love to hear about it. If you’re willing, would you share it with me?
