Entering God’s Rest
Stepping into Belief and This Week's Recap
Entering God’s Rest
This week, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to enter into God’s rest.
The Bible shows us that God’s rest is not about quitting or doing nothing. It’s about trusting Him. After God finished His work, He rested:
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.”
Genesis 2:2 (KJV)
That rest became a picture for us. God invites us to rest by believing His Word.
Israel was given the same invitation. God promised them a land—but that land had giants in it. The first generation became afraid. Instead of trusting God, they focused on what they saw. Because of unbelief, they did not enter the land and wandered in the wilderness for forty years.
“So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”
Hebrews 3:19 (KJV)
Only two men believed God and were ready to enter. Later, the second generation did step forward—but they still had battles to fight. The difference was that they trusted God to go before them. The fight was real, but the victory depended on Him, not on their own strength.
That lesson still speaks to us today.
God is still calling us to hear His voice and believe Him:
“To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts…”
Hebrews 3:15 (KJV)
Entering God’s rest does not mean there are no battles. It means we stop relying on ourselves and trust God instead:
“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.”
Hebrews 4:10 (KJV)
This is not laziness—it is faith. It is choosing to rest in what God has said, even when the path ahead looks hard.
“For we which have believed do enter into rest…”
Hebrews 4:3 (KJV)
This rest brings peace, confidence, and assurance—not because life is easy, but because God is faithful.
So let me ask you as we begin this week:
Where are you not believing God?
Where has God called you to enter, but unbelief has kept you from moving forward?
Where can you read God’s Word and take Him at His word?
This is not shared to condemn anyone. It is an invitation. God’s rest is still open. But we must be in Him and trust in Him. The invitation is available to all who will call on His name.
