Introduction: Why This Series Matters
Why Calvinism needs to be tested.
Have you ever heard phrases like…
“You were dead and couldn’t choose Christ.”
“Jesus only died for the elect.”
“If you doubt your salvation, maybe you’re not really saved.”
Or maybe someone told you:
“Calvinism is just what the Bible teaches. If you love sound doctrine, you’ll accept it.”
At first, it might sound deep, even impressive — like something mature Christians believe.
But behind the complicated words and confident voices, something vital is at stake:
The gospel.
What’s the Problem?
Calvinism is a system of theology built around five main points, often remembered as TULIP:
Total Depravity – You’re so dead in sin that you can’t believe the gospel unless God first makes you alive
Unconditional Election – God chose who would be saved before the world began, without regard to anything they would do
Limited Atonement – Jesus only died for the elect, not for everyone
Irresistible Grace – If you’re elect, you can’t resist God’s call
Perseverance of the Saints – If you’re truly saved, you’ll endure to the end
It may sound harmless at first. Even logical.
But when these ideas are unpacked and lived out, they change everything:
The gospel invitation becomes unclear
Assurance of salvation becomes shaky
The character of God becomes confusing
And people begin wondering, “Did Jesus die for me?”
What This Series Will Do
This series of short, clear articles is meant to help everyday believers, including teens and new Christians, understand:
What Calvinism teaches — and where it came from
What the Bible actually says — using only the King James Bible
Why the true gospel matters — and how to recognize when it’s being distorted
How to stand firm — even when Calvinism is popular, clever, or widespread
We’ll walk through:
What the gospel is
What repentance and faith really mean
What Calvinism gets wrong about salvation
What key verses (like John 6:44, Ephesians 1, and Romans 9) really mean
How to spot red flags in sermons, books, and church culture
And how to have peace, clarity, and confidence in your salvation
Why This Isn’t a Calvinism vs. Arminianism Debate
This isn’t about defending a different system. It’s about defending the gospel.
We’re not here to replace one label with another. We’re here to say:
Let’s go back to what the Bible actually says — line by line, verse by verse — and believe that.
The Heart Behind It All
We’re not attacking people. Many Calvinists are sincere, devout, and love Jesus.
But we must speak up when a system:
Tells people they might not be able to believe
Hides the gospel behind theological walls
Makes salvation sound uncertain or unreachable
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13
“The Lord is… not willing that any should perish.” – 2 Peter 3:9
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” – Acts 16:31
That’s the gospel.
That’s the good news.
That’s worth guarding.
You’re Invited
