Sunday Stories
Part 1
The Lord brings healing to a girl who didn’t think He’d see her:
The Lord always does a lot on Sunday. I mean He is doing amazing things every day, but there is something about Sunday that creates more space and opportunity. Perhaps it’s the environment, the timing, or my focus. Who knows, but I know God is doing something.
I’m going to pace this story out over a few days.
Someone’s Stomach is Hurting
I attended the pre-service prayer meeting for the first time at this church on Sunday. It was cool. During the prayer time, one girl walked in, and I got a word that someone was having some stomach issues.
I didn’t want to interrupt the flow of the prayer time or call this person out directly. When there was a pause in the prayers, I said I felt like someone was going to need prayer for healing for their stomach and then prayed for stomachs to be healed.
I wanted to ask after the prayer time if she was better, but we got real close to the time for the service, and I wanted to get a seat. I went out a little early because, like I said earlier this week, I have been asking the Lord, "What are you doing?" and I felt like there was a specific place He wanted me to sit. (More to come in the next post about that story.)
I quietly slipped out and made my way to the seat. Soon after the girl came up to me and said, “hey, I wanted to share with you the person you were praying for with the stomach issue was me. I didn’t think it was me at first. I was actually looking around because I thought it was this other person. I didn’t think God would care about something so small as that. Surely He would have been looking at someone else. However, I woke up this morning with pain in my stomach. I even brought a Topo Chico to help, but after looking around, I realized that I was the one who had been healed. "
I told her, “Yes, I thought it was you, but I didn’t want to interrupt. I’m so glad you came up and shared that with me as confirmation. That was the first time I can remember where I publicly prayed for a person without them knowing, and it worked. Praise the Lord! That’s so cool! Also, I want you to know that the Lord sees you. You’re important to Him. Even the small things that you think are insignificant are important to Him. He loves you.”
She told me, “I do really feel seen now. I feel like the Lord does see me.”
Then she told me a story about why she didn't expect the Lord to do something like that for her. She said she was usually the one serving and seeing others instead of being served.
She told me this was the first time she had ever been healed by the Lord. Praise the Lord!
I ran into her again later. She pulled out her Topo Chico saying how she was still better and excited that she was going to drink her drink for fun instead of out of an attempt to feel better.
I’m not sure what a Topo Chico does for stomachs, but I’m so glad she got to drink it for fun. I’m also so glad she got to know and experience the love of the Lord for herself. I’m glad the Lord showed her that she was seen.
Being Courageous to Step Out and Pray
I want to encourage you all to step out and pray for people when the Lord gives you a word of knowledge about someone who is hurting. You don’t have to call them out if it’s not the right time, but you can pray generally and internally direct your prayers toward them.
What about you?
Have you ever gotten a word for someone, prayed for them without them knowing, and then heard a testimony of them being healed? What happened?
