What if the most important message in the world could be explained in just a few verses?
That’s exactly what the Bible gives us in 1 Corinthians 15:1–4. These verses don’t just give a summary—they define the gospel.
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:1–4, KJV
The Gospel Is Good News — Not Good Advice
The word gospel means “good news.” It’s not a list of rules. It’s not a message about what you need to do to work your way to heaven. It’s a declaration about what Jesus already did.
Let’s break it down:
Christ Died — For Our Sins
Jesus Christ didn’t just come to be a teacher or example. He came to be a Saviour.
“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” – Luke 19:10
He died for our sins. That means He took the punishment we deserve. Sin separates us from God. And every person has sinned:
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
But instead of leaving us in that condition, Jesus took our place.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
He Was Buried
Jesus really died. His body was laid in a tomb. This wasn’t a trick or a spiritual symbol. His death was real.
His burial proves His death, and it fulfilled the Scriptures.
He Rose Again the Third Day
This is the best part: He didn’t stay dead.
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.” – Matthew 28:6
The resurrection proves that:
Jesus is the Son of God
His payment for sin was accepted
He has power over death
Eternal life is real and offered to us
So What Does That Mean For You?
This gospel isn’t just a history lesson. It’s a message for you, right now.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13
That means:
You don’t have to wonder if God wants to save you
You don’t have to be “elect” or “chosen” in some hidden way
If you believe on Christ — who died for your sins and rose again — you will be saved
What Are We Saved Unto?
The Bible doesn’t just say what we’re saved from — it also tells us what we’re saved unto.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
Salvation is not the end — it’s the beginning. When you believe the gospel:
You are saved unto eternal life – “…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
You are saved unto good works – not to earn salvation, but to walk in your new identity
You are saved unto holiness – “God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.” (1 Thess. 4:7)
You are saved unto a living hope – “…he hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1:3)
You are saved unto adoption – brought into God’s family as a child and heir (Galatians 4:4–7)
Salvation is a complete transformation. It’s not just fire insurance — it’s new life with a new direction, a new purpose, and a new future.
Have You Believed This Gospel?
It’s not enough to just agree with the facts. The Bible says we must believe:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” – Romans 10:9
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life…” – John 3:36a
Right now, you can put your trust in Jesus Christ—not in your goodness, your works, or your religion. Just Jesus.
A Final Word
The gospel is simple. It’s for everyone. It’s good news because it means you can be saved right now — by grace, through faith, in the risen Son of God.
This is the gospel that Paul preached. This is the gospel that saves.
Don’t miss it. Don’t change it. Just believe it.
